As a teenager (in the ’80s!) I had a keen interest in photography, but lacked the means to buy the equipment that I needed. So, I made a concerted effort to work, save and develop my technical skills. In 2007, having owned several early digital cameras, it was time to purchase a DSLR and really start honing my skills. I spent several years self-teaching outdoors on location, enjoying photographing landscapes in all weathers and learning how light changes the scene, affects colour casts within photos and composition. Someyears later, (even though highly critical of my own abilities), I contacted some professional network friends and found myself leading photographic workshops, teaching others how to capture landscapes and holding group workshops for major photography equipment manufacturers. Photography had become my passion and my escape; all of my free time was spent travelling to new destinations to find the perfect shot. I knew then that I wanted to be a full-time photographer, but how?
